Pros

Nice coworkers. Beautiful location in Hingham for the corporate office. Nice cafe. Good deals on surplus merchandise sales Summer Fridays are good. Some flexibility to work for home in few groups but needs to be advocated to other groups where managers still shy away from allowing associates to work from home

Cons

The company needs to get it’s act together. Like other reviewers have said, there have been no raises for several years. Most worker bees don’t get bonuses while the management tends to take a nice chunk . The performance evaluation is a sham because there are no rewards for hitting your goals. The health plan keeps getting worse and 401k is pathetic ( paltry 1.5 percent vested over 5 years). The last year has been brutal so wouldn’t expect anything to change this year as well.

Pros

The relationships that are built with customers each and every day--very loyal customer base.

Cons

Extremely operational with major Floor Sets every 4 weeks along with small adjustments 2 weeks after. Payroll is very tight and challenging in order to have enough selling floor coverage to build relationships and also complete non-selling operational tasks timely. Management is also suppose to train, coach, and lead Client Specialists to provide customers with an experience and build relationships.

Pros

Loyal Clientele Great Relationship Building No Individual Sales Goals (Relationship Focused Environment) Enjoyable and Encouraging Co-workers and Associates Invests in Employees/ Listens to Employee Feedback Forward Thinking Environment (Beautifully Remolded Stores with New Technology) Excellent Employee Discount Team Environment/ Non-commission Based Good Full-Time Benefits (3 Weeks PTO, 3 Floating Holidays and 5 Sick Days, Cigna Health Ins.) Great Place to Learn Importance of Product Knowledge and Customer Service

Cons

Extremely visually demanding without the resources to achieve demands. One of the only large retailers to not have a dedicated non-selling/ visual team. The company switched from payroll hours to payroll dollars to save money and, although great in theory, stores continue to struggle to achieve the demands of non-selling tasks. Regional Visual Managers have no understanding of selling and expect the store to look perfect at all times. In addition, schedules were more inconsistent than typical retail; sometimes worked 8-13 days in a row, ranging from 6-10+ hour days. Associates struggled with the inconsistency, too, which led to high turnover and loss of great talent. Not much room for growth after reaching assistant manager level.
