Pros

This place has no pros.

Cons

I could write all day on the cons of this place. This is the most terrible place I have ever come across. From the outside you hear "Tampa General #1 in Tampa bay" but everyone that works there knows it's not that anymore. All this place cares about is money. When I say they understaff.. They give CNA 25 patients. The hospital is so dirty. Like I said I can go on all day. Stay away. Working here made me leave the medical field, and I'm not overexaggerating.

Pros

Plenty of opportunity to gain experience in specialized areas. Burn, trauma, NICU etc...

Cons

There's politics everywhere.... But this place takes the cake. Way too much!! And upper management makes decisions and has zero clue what its like in "the trenches." And the new CEO...well.....you'll have to see for yourself

Pros

Excellent benefits- very good copayment-based health insurance, 8+ hours of ATO per pay period (depends on years of service), competitive 403B with matching up to 5% of salary. Competitive tuition reimbursement benefit (4k/year). Relatively easy to transfer between departments at 6+ months. Lots of opportunities for CEs, certifications, and higher education.

Cons

Very busy, very frequently understaffed. Currently having some financial difficulty/budget shortfalls, on a hiring freeze for external applicants as of february 2016. Workload in surgical services departments is frequently unpredictable and there is a high turnover rate. Compensation for inexperienced RNs (<5 yrs) is not competitive compared to other hospitals in the area.
