Good company, bad management

Pros

- Some interesting projects and freedom to manage your work the way you want and suggest new ideas - Very generous pay and benefits (but it is hard to get promoted) - Work/life balance, depending on your team - Some great, caring and talented people - Company seems to truly care about Taskers

Cons

- Unclear strategy/lack of structure and a very "start up" organization style and mentality, despite the fact it is not one anymore. Some teams overlap and communication is not always the best. - Management style. The company is very political/hierarchical and boot licking seems to be the only way to get a little recognition. Employees just toot their own horn and often end up showcasing their work in a forced, unnatural way, just to be be recognized and be in the directors' good books. This leads to a strange atmosphere and makes the company way more political than it should be, considering its size and the values it claims to embody. Certain directors can be quite agressive and lack empathy, especially in London. It often leads to a toxic environment and favouritism, meaning that, if a director has decided they don't like you, your hard work will go unnoticed and you will receive demeaning remarks on a regular basis, sometimes in front of others. Micromagement can also be an issue. - Very high turnover, and a tendency to say "Oh well, that's normal", when clearly something is going on. The company does not seem to care about retention for some reason. - Product itself could be better, but lack of resources/engineers prevents major improvements

Pros

To work in a tech business which has high growth potential and which is backed by one of the largest retailers in the World (IKEA)

Cons

Priorities change often. Goals are often unrealistic. American-style management and culture could be off-putting.

Pros

Interesting product Fantastic team members throughout the business - a genuine willingness to help each other Employee wellness is promoted and encouraged

Cons

So many areas of the app that need fixing and not enough bandwidth makes both employees and end users very frustrated A bit of a 'that's just the way it is' culture where management refuses to see there are issues that could be worked on and improved - the lack of training, for example Go, go, go mentality, not much time to stop and appreciate achievements 'Start up mentality' is still used, mainly as an excuse for the lack of processes which really should be sorted by now Employees are encouraged to sing their own praises to a point that it's really the only way to get recognition. If you're not doing it, there is a sense of 'well then where is the proof that you are doing your job'? Which really just hinders people and creates an unease
