Pros

- Very welcoming and diverse work environment - Does right by their workers as far as PTO, benefits and remote work - Manager provided a lot of autonomy and was easy to access - Will help you get certificates and education to further career goals if desired - Made great friends here before we went fully remote

Cons

- 5 years of loyalty still got me laid off - Sometimes too much autonomy and unclear guidance; often felt like I needed more structure and clear instructions - Salaries tend to be below local market rates (and they use their benefits package as the excuse for why, which does not even include IKEA stock for most roles) - Company frequently shifts directions without much reasoning (random re-brandings, huge new feature campaigns when old issues still aren't resolved) - Too focused on hyper growth and expansion while letting long term deficiencies in the core product linger

Pros

Even with it's growth it's still a startup at heart, for better or worst, but this allows anyone to have impact, and create their own destiny. The culture is top notch. Being primarily led by women at the top, and the company half women as well, helps to avoid aggressive, terrible environments you've heard about at other companies. The leadership team is very accessible, and transparent. Company is heading in a positive direction, and really listens to the employees. The company truly cares about its employees, the benefits and perks are top notch, and TR is striving to be a best in-class remote first company.

Cons

The platform itself has struggled for years resulting in needing to have a top notch operations department, CS, and Tasker Success Team to make up for those shortcomings. The issues with the platform design can be frustrating for engineers. Remote first culture is not without it's pitfalls. It can be hard to connect with others or feel truly engaged, and it's very much in the early stages of it's development. A lack of Black and LatinX, managers, Directors, and Senior Leadership is a shortcoming resulting in well meaning sentiments around DEIB. It comes from the top and truly needs to be a priority. TR is diverse for the tech industry, but that's not saying much- the industry as a whole needs to do better. Additionally the fast pace nature of the company leaves many feeling burned out fast with tons of responsibilities and projects all running at once- roles can feel unsustainable.

Pros

Free lunch. Team at IC level are great. Taskers are great and hard-working people who really care about the company.

Cons

False sense of urgencies constantly. Bullying from management. Toxic culture from managers and using their official feedback tool to bully people. Severe lack of knowledge, experience and expertise at senior leadership and middle management levels, yet have their fingers in everything. Makes for a constant churn of talent who either stay quiet and never share their ideas again or quickly leave. Lack of change and badly needs complete reorg within marketing. Pushing AI first, but lack of any standards or understanding of what makes a quality product or experience at all levels of marketing. Zero project management or forethought. Constant drama over nothing that will actually move the needle. Entire middle and lead managers are all “yes-men”. If you haven’t realised, growth doesn’t come from not challenging yourself and your own ideas. Leaders are scared of anyone who says no to them and will quickly make their lives hell. They are scared of anyone who has competence as it shines a light on how badly they don’t have any. In any other modern company, they would not survive. Several team members constantly posting in Slack about “wins” which are just the most basic things, part of their job. Never seen people have to fawn over getting attention so much. Clearly they are all scared for their jobs and so have to publicly pledge they are doing something, anyone with knowledge can see it’s not even a win.

Pros

People genuinely cooperate and are easy to work with on projects and new initiatives. For being remote first the culture is pretty strong. Benefits overall are very good with extra stipends.

Cons

You need to be a self starter as the work can be challenging and priorities shift quite a bit. Managers seem to come and go, repeating that process can be tiresome and slows down career growth.

Utter Incompetence

Pros

Great people at the IC level, decent benefits

Cons

Managers and up are not only incompetent, but are rewarded for it. The COO was brought in as a VP with a plan to turn things around and when he failed to do so was promoted to COO. Everything they try to do breaks and fails

Good potential with a new ceo

Pros

- benefits - employee programs - remote (but not any more) The people operations team really cares about supporting managers and employees. It is probably the only well running team at TaskRabbit. Even international teams feel well taken care of

Cons

Everything else The CEO really gets a kick out of smooth talkers so if you are a young white guy or woman who sounds half way smart you will do good. Unfortunately these aren't the leadership that is doing the good work. You will be dispensible. In spite of good company performance Ania thinks she can always do better with new people. I am sure that her slt attrition is 100% by now but she will say it's not her fault. You might learn something but most of the time you will be spinning without progress since priorities change every time senior leadership makes bad decisions Ania will be on her cell phone or sending slack messages on the side during important meetings and even one on ones

Pros

great benefits. work from home.

Cons

Management truly has no idea what they are employed for and what they need to do apart from "yes sir" "yes mam". forced upon "culture" and very political atmosphere for company this size. managers don't care about you but themselves. No collaborations between business and tech. management has no clear view on what needs to be done and what's next on road map. wouldn't recommend to join due to constant layoffs from CTO to directors to techs
