Stay away from the manufacturing side.
Pros
Good pay, good schedule. That’s about it.
Cons
The culture. I’ve worked a few jobs in my adult life, both large companies and small. Never have I experienced such a sense of expendability. The “good ole boy” culture is a real thing and it lives at Teledyne. Talent scouting they care less about than who you know and kind of truck you drive. I was there almost a year I guess. Never once asked what I did at my last job. They already knew who they would keep on in the case of a layoff prior to work even being performed. The fabricated work, welding and machining does not keep up with the building or manufacturing side. Not even close. They are months apart. In this “months apart” time you are required to sweep the floor for 10 hours every day. The same floor. All day. For weeks on end sometimes. Never stop to talk to someone either or stand still. The guy in charge of the 25 or so assembly techs is/was way over his head. Crappy attitude and too standoffish for the position holds. A couple of the techs were almost petrified to make a mistake. Would ignore work if they thought it made lead to them making a mistake on it. Eggshells everyday. All day. Which of course leads to mistakes. Hopefully for the sake of the techs it’s the position he HELD. I can’t speak for the rest of the company. Solely the assembly side.
