Interesting work but....

Pros

Pretty decent pay bright colleagues Valuable work (clean energy and cancer treatments) Interesting and challenging work

Cons

Project priorities are confusing (Everything is important) and take precedence over personnel. (I've missed out on a few training or development opportunities to support project goals that didn't end up happening) Accelerated timelines force a choice between doing something now and doing it the best way (ending up taking longer anyway) Some instances of bullying by mid level management to accomplish tasks with little to no intervention by other mid level or upper level management. Many instances of management ignoring expertise of employees.

Pros

The work Terrapower is doing is cutting edge and you work with brilliant and passionate people contributing towards decarbonizing energy. Your experience will really depend on your team.

Cons

The high level leadership consistently makes poor strategic decisions and pushes on the mid level to compensate. Lack of 360 feedback. Lack of accountability for poor performance. About half the staff is contract workers (with way less benefits/professional development ops) and there is not much opportunity to convert them.

Pros

Good people in 'worker' roles. Excellent mission that is easy to get behind. Company has significant potential.

Cons

The current management team has been there a long time and are set in their ways, which holds the company back. CEO is not a leader and is uninspiring. Brand management will come at the expense of good engineering at times. There is more work than people to do it. This leads to rushed work and unrealistic project schedules. Like another review, the schedules never seem to be correct and unreasonable amounts of time are spent on them. The 'guiding principles' can be used as a weapon against the employees who question. Politics were a constant.
