Pros

Quality of work was very good. The work that was being done here at bangalore before TI exited the cellular business was truly world class. Work culture / work-life balance was valued and supported by the management. One got to work with smart/experienced engineers from all around the world.

Cons

The compensation was below par with TI management trading off its good reputation with lower salary. Promotions were had to come by for most.

Pros

Good work/life balance, low stress level. Good vacation. Plentiful design tools. Lots of support for design engineers i.e. in the lab and design software. Could have potential but see the cons.

Cons

perhaps it depends on particular BU, but in my experience there is way too much politics and not enough substance. Many of SMTS/DMTS are old and not up to the level, but still have their high titles and perks and not shy to use them. Mid-level management is often technically mediocre resulting in loss of business and subsequent mass lay-offs. Tech ladder advancement is based on who you know, not what one is worth. Low-level management often stuffed by incompetents who just sing the company tune but have no clue of design issues and just concerned with keeping themselves employed. Nat Semi acquisition was sought to add tech talent, but Nat Semi was never in the top 3 of analog, and many of their best people left. Recent lay-offs tended to remove a lot of talent - those who stayed seemed most politically skilled, not technically talented, consequently a lot of talent got picked up by top competitors, probably on the cheap. Top management comes from sales and marketing, not from design, which probably accounts for a lot of the above issues. I can't see how TI can compete with the top 3 in analog - other than on price.
