Pros

I started Texas Instruments in an entry level job and TI spent a lot of time and money to develop me as a leader. They provide tuition reimbursement and also sent me to numerous training classes for technical topics as well as leadership and other soft skills topics.

Cons

Not the highest salaries in the market, and they are known for large sweeping layoffs. One of which eliminated my position there.

Pros

1. Latest technology 2. Lot of responsibilities. Good chance to learn a lot 3. You will get to work with the best people in the industry 4. Flexible timings and great compensation

Cons

1. Poor work life balance. Long meetings (5~6 hours a day). Will end up putting 16 hours a day at work overall. 2. No job security. Layoff is a quarterly ritual. Will be working with a knife under the neck 3. Company is more focused toward analog business. Not a good place for digital engineers.

Pros

Company is actively managing the business portfolio to make itself more competitive. Quick to make decisions about which businesses to nurture and which ones to cut their losses.

Cons

The work culture feels very old from the calculator days. It's also an entrenched culture and you frequently here "that's the way we've always done it." There is no formal process to onboard you and little assistance is offered to help you navigate the organizational landmines. When you ask questions about why things are the way they are, you often get a confused look because it is so embedded in their day-to-day it is not recognizable to them. Also no formal performance review process is conducted. Your annual salary adjustment is the primary feedback on performance.
