Pros

Great resume-builder and learned what business I shouldn't work for

Cons

Management disconnected with teams. Inexperienced employees thrown into leadership roles as "stretch opportunities" and fail miserably. When leads fail, employees on lower level are subject to disciplinary action and will not have a voice in defending for root of cause. Feedback is not appreciated or taken seriously. Above all, the passive aggressive culture and apathy of management is sickening. Work environment is highly stressful, leaving even the top-performers paralyzed by stress and unable to perform in dysfunctional environment. Worst professional experience ever and so embarrassed that I recommended my colleagues to apply and have to experience an incredibly poor internship with the company. Waste of their time.

Deceptive Hiring Practices

Pros

Good benefits and paid time off.

Cons

Deceptive hiring practices. Job descriptions do not match up to job you will actually be doing. They also tell you during hiring process after 6 months you would be considered for another position if applied for. You start, they find out it is a year to year and a half. Most managers have no leadership experience....they go through, what they call a "leadership development program" where all they do are different tasks in different areas of the company, and are given management positions. The part where this causes problems, is when you have a problem, no one knows how to step up to help fix it, even if it is their mistake. Lack of leadership in essence.

Pros

Compensation is ok 401k Great tuition reimbursement Gym or gym equipment coverage

Cons

Healthcare coverage and all benefits are paid by employee even though company pays a percentage the deductable goes up every year and company makes money on employees with overpriced snack machines and taking a slice out of what you pay for healthcare plans etc Management is poor. If a project fails its a blame game and someone gets kicked out. Layoff valuable employees and praise people who point fingers when they are the people messing up projects. Managers disappear go and have two hour lunch breaks come in around 10 and then leave by 4. You constantly have to beg for work at this company and if you ask questions you get penalized there's no set structure in this company everything is if you do something wrong and you're not told what to do you get blamed for it either way. Management's not held responsible for their actions and they wonder why Textron has a high turnover rate There's no company parties or events to bring people together. When you meet the CEO or any of the bigwigs in the company you can't ask or offer any advice to them in terms of the how to better the organization without HR coming to you after the fact and trying to put you in your place. The best thing you have to do in this company is just not open your mouth and keep a low profile. Being smart and growing is also penalized in this organization. There's people that have been promoted and then two or three months later they are laid off. Definitely this company has the good old boys mentality. If you are minority or woman in the workplace be aware that growing in this company is the most difficult thing. Unless you fit the structure of this company you will never grow even if you are the best of the best and you're filled everything is politics over actually quality work.
