Pros

Sad to say, but I can't tell you really anything good about this job.

Cons

The organization is the definition of siloed with little leadership. They could care what long term employees think or even care to hear our thoughts. Work like balance does not exist anymore, weekends and more hours are always expected. Pay is not competitive in comparison to other similar companies and work. If you enjoy being overworked and underpaid then this is the place for you!

Thank you for taking the time to write this review. However, your statements do not match the current workplace environment at Thatcher. I suspect you are either someone who worked at Thatcher ages ago, or this is an intentional misleading review. Thatcher’s leadership team does consider thoughts and suggestions of all employees. Thatcher has an open-door policy and welcomes suggestions and insights employees offer. Employees and managers have scheduled recurring 1:1 meetings where employees can voice their opinions or give suggestions. This is also a time where employees are able to bring up any concerns or update managers on continuing education interests and where managers can address performance concerns and applaud success. Communication is key! Managers have been consulted, and it has been confirmed, there has not been any employee who has worked long (or more) hours or weekends in the past year. All Thatcher employees are exempt with the expectation of working 40 hours per week. Thatcher supports competitive pay for experience. Official performance reviews are given annually and merit increases are awarded based on performance levels. New employees are offered salaries based on years of experience and position responsibilities. If candidates believe the salary offered is not competitive, candidates can negotiate desired rates. As an exempt employee, working an average of 40 hours per week would not be considered overworked. As discussed earlier, Thatcher supports competitive pay. New employees agree to the salary offered at time of the offer of employment. Throughout the year, Thatcher has a number of events as well as Employee Quarterly Meetings to show appreciation to employees. Thatcher sponsors events, promotes continuing education, and celebrates personal and company success. Thatcher employees are smart, friendly, and creative. Employees work within teams and across teams to reach goals.

Pros

I don't think there are even any.

Cons

You should beware of burnout and insane managers in this company. The managers will coerce you to work for very long hours, which will inevitably lead to your burnout. The worst part is that no one really cares. The management does not want anything to do with employees, and you won't get any kind of support from the managers. Some of them are also immature and will often meddle with things that they shouldn't.

Thank you for taking time to send us feedback. It is unfortunate that you did not bring up your concern regarding burnout prior to your departure. A quick Google search will provide information that most industries and professions experience burnout at some time during an employee’s career. Add all the circumstances surrounding Covid-19, and the number has increased significantly across the board. Many professionals believe burnout occurs due to situations outside of the workplace. Top burnout professions are physicians, nurses, retail and fast food workers. Thatcher cares about our employees. Thatcher has practices and resources in place to help our employees if they feel burnout. At Thatcher we stress communication and feedback. Not only does Thatcher practice an open-door policy where employees can speak with managers, the executive team or human resources regarding concerns - managers and staff have scheduled, reoccurring 1:1 meetings. Employees are able to bring up concerns, discuss professional goals and ways they want to improve their craft. Employees are encouraged to share their ideas of professional development and/or improvements for the team. Employees must be active participants in these conversations. Managers, the executive team and human resources are not able to address concerns if they are not made aware of issues. If employees are looking for outside help to manage the circumstances around burnout, Thatcher offers two different Employee Assistant Plans (EAPs) for employees. One is tied to the health insurance provider, and the other is open to all employees after two months of employment and covers immediate and some extended family members. Both EAPs are confidential and services are either free or at a reduced cost depending on the services. EAP information is presented at new hire orientation, physically posted by human resources, emailed, sent through SLACK, and discussed during at least one of the Thatcher Employee Quarterly Meetings. We wish you well in your future!

The brutal workload made the environment a hazardous and unhealthy one

Pros

This company had the potential to be a great place to work. They have high quality standard for their products and services and customers/clients appreciate that.

Cons

The workload in this company was brutal and crazy. The work seemed to be infinite and nonstop. When an employee couldn't squeeze twelve hours of work into a normal 8-hour day, his/her supervisor would verbally abuse him/her instead of seriously acknowledging the unrealistic challenges they were expected to face/accomplish each & every day. This type of environment is generally hazardous and unhealthy for anyone, so obviously I don't recommend it.

Thanks for the time to write your review. Thatcher has customers. Customers have projects and deadlines. Our managers work diligently with customers on timelines to ensure those deadlines are reasonable. The work at Thatcher is challenging. Technology is always evolving and changing. Our employees work 40 hours per week on a consistent basis. Managers encourage teams to stay on task and communicate when issues arise. Employees MUST advocate for themselves if they run into a situation where a task takes longer than expected OR when they are stuck on a task. For example, if a task is scheduled to take 3 hours to complete and employee is stuck and unable to move forward at the 1.5 hour mark, the employee should reach out to the lead or manager at the 2 hour mark for guidance if they are unable to find a solution on their own. If an employee waits to reach out to the lead or manager until hour 6, tasks and projects may be delayed. Communication is key when reaching deadlines. When communication is timely, goals and deadlines are reached. Daily scrum meetings during each sprint also help keeping goals in check and can help with adjusting timelines or tasks. It is unfortunate that you are suggesting a supervisor verbally abused their employee. All hires review company policy and steps to take during new hire orientation. Concerns can only be addressed if brought to the attention of the executive team, managers or human resources. Thatcher managers and executive team have an open-door policy. Employees are able to reach out to them directly to express an issue or concern, as well as the Human Resources department. Employees and their direct manager have one on one meetings on a regular basis where feedback is welcome. If employees have concerns, there are many ways in which to notify the company. Please note that constructive criticism may be given to help employees grow and learn and is different from verbal abuse. An infinite amount of work would correlate to Thatcher thriving! As Thatcher relies on customers for business, infinite/non-stop work is a good thing if you look at it this way. We wish you the best at your current/future employer.
