Okay but stagnant and old school.

Pros

competitive vacation and holiday time off.

Cons

Management is not only heavily male dominated but clueless as to the experience of the average employee. Perks go to the male higher ups while the rank and file produce income without exceptable raises. Your first year will be fine but after that expect to not get raises that are anywhere near the cost of living. Also, there is a serious lack of development within the company. You will see positions filled from outside the company for positions that should have been filled internally. You will also have to pay out of pocket for continuing education and beg for reimbursement. Company talks a lot about inclusion and development but does little to nothing to forward those goals. If you are looking to grow in your career, then this company is a hard pass.

Pros

The company itself is great. Decent benefits, the pay is okay, and the company does a lot of extra stuff like food truck festivals, blood drives, etc all during work hours so you get paid for this stuff.

Cons

NEVER work in the PL CSC. The managers promise promotions and then *oops* something changes in the company and it’s no longer an option. They told half the CSC that there was no money in the budget for raises but half the department got them. They also stop the good employees from getting other jobs/positions because they want to keep them for themselves. Management drove me away. I exceeded my goals, I had excellent reviews, and because of that, it made management look good and they’d block any promotion I went for.

Great Company with One Thing Holding Them Back

Pros

One of the best companies I have worked for. Great benefits. Tuition reimbursement, 6% 401k match, great vision and health insurance. Fair pay given that its Worcester. Slightly under compensated compared to similar roles closer to Boston. Fantastic work/life balance. Extremely positive energy work environment. I have worked in toxic environments before and this company really highlights how toxic many other companies truly are! Would very much recommend Hanover to family and friends.

Cons

Truly the only down side to working at the Hanover is the IT support. It is so pathetically bad that I couldn't give my review a 5 * and I truly love the company. I honestly waste about 4-8 hours a WEEK speaking with the outsourced call center that will keep you on the phone for an hour simply having you restart your computer over and over. Google is better tech support than The Hanovers call center (the 4's as its known). The actual in person tech help is great but unfortunately, the only way to get that kind of support is by going into the help desk in person. I have brought this complaint up to my manager and team and the common response is "Yeah, that's the 4's for you." Support calls sound like you are talking through a cup phone, they have extremely limited knowledge of what they are doing and there is no real sense of urgency if you have a time sensitive demand. Again, I love this company, it is the best company I have ever worked for in almost every way except the tech support. Easily the worst tech support I have ever experienced. If The Hanover Insurance Group had a halfway competent IT support system, I would review them 6 out of 5 stars.
