      Stuffy - the management is pretty stuck up not a relaxed working enviornment by far. So if you are looking for the challenge enviornment and team atmosphere keep looking!! I worked at The Hartford for over three years and then took a position with the competition. What a difference!! R-E-S-P-E-C-T was acheived. So for those of you stuck there. There is life outside!!

      There is plenty of room for advancement.

      Cons

      This is my first experience in a corporate setting. There have been a couple of times that people "passed the buck" on other people and no one wanted to take responsibility. I'm used to working in a smaller setting. If a task was not completed, there is no one to hide behind or to blame. Other than that, I have nothing but positive things to say about the organization. The pay could be better, but the benefits package makes up for what the salary is lacking. I wanted a job with promise of advancement and security, and I have found it.

      Pros

      1) There are plenty of opportunities within the company to move around and try out different roles. 2) There are a lot of great people that work there 3) Hard work is rewarded handsomely (Once you get to the management level) 4) The Hartford does a great job assisting individuals reach their professional goals (FCAS, CPCU, etc.)

      Cons

      1) Hartford, CT is not the most happenin' town 2) Lots of red tape - it takes incredible amounts of energy and effort to accomplish anything 3) Occasional silo mentality - all units not always communicating with each other and lack of understanding/appreciation of what is involved in completing some tasks
