Pros

The work itself is rewarding — it’s satisfying to see a creative product come together each month. There's strong collaboration between teams, and being part of a process that includes engagement is fulfilling. The systems in place for organization and project management are helpful (Asana, Google Drive, etc.). There’s opportunity to take initiative and improve team operations. Client relationships are a bright spot, working directly with businesses and seeing their success is motivating.

Cons

Long work hours The messaging often feels dismissive, we’re frequently told more work is coming which affects morale. There’s a culture of burnout and pressure, and expectations continue to rise without adequate support. Going above and beyond often goes unrecognized, even in small ways like verbal acknowledgment. Raises and advancement don’t seem clearly connected to contributions or workload.

Pros

Remote Work, Great Coworkers, and Flexible Schedule

Cons

Lots of Change, Many Designers working over 40 hours a week to make deadlines after layoffs at the beginning of 2025. Lack of Communication from leadership regarding layoffs in other related departments. Communication from CEO that is tone deaf to the amount of work and expectations of the publication team (for example talking about salary caps after the entire team is working more hours with higher quality expectations with no increase in pay). Company has toxic happiness culture where everything is ok and fine after undergoing extreme changes with decreases in benefits and no increase in pay. Communications to middle leadership shows that they understand but we just have to keep chugging along and things will be ok. I will note that the current CEO is new to the position, likely inherited a bad situation and is trying to fix things. There are positive changes coming (such as cost of living pay increases) but will it be too little too late?

Hello. We really appreciate you sharing your perspective, but more importantly, your advice on how we can continue to improve the employee experience. As you mentioned, leadership has changed very recently and in just a few months, we have rolled out some new benefits we hope will further improve the experience of our team members. Please keep in mind that while we do share reviews such as this with leadership, we strongly urge you to submit such feedback directly to the CEO as part of his new "Ask the CEO" program. As always, feedback can be submitted anonymously, like it is on this platform.

Hello. First and foremost, we thank you for your many, many years of contributions to N2. We know it's the amazing people here (as well as the benefits and remote opportunities you noted) that make N2 a place people wish to work for a decade-plus. We appreciate your candor in sharing the cons you experienced toward the end of your tenure – we do strive for continued growth and innovation, which can be difficult for some team members to embrace when it comes to the changes required. We will share this review with leadership and wish you the very best of luck in your future work.
