Revolving door

Pros

I liked how they invested in technology to stay current. Their Best Practices were very effective and helped to deliver excellent client service to maintain long lasting relationships.

Cons

It is impossible to move up in the company for most .There is a revolving door with lots of turnover. Those who have made it to upper management and have been there a long time are puppets to the owners. There are a lot of corporate politics with big egos, and I suggest one stay below the radar. With client service managers, it is not uncommon for corporate to have private investigators following them in the field to make sure they are doing what they say they are doing. I know, it is hard to believe, but it is true. Raises were never given and exceeding goals was never good enough for corporate.

First and foremost I would like to offer you the opportunity to personally speak to our Executive Team regarding any discrepancies you may have regarding all aspects of our business, both past and present. Since you are a current employee, you are invited to meet confidentially with Senior Management at your earliest convenience. At Salem, we firmly believe in an open door policy and would love to have a conversation with you about what specifically you feel we could be doing better. It also seems as though you have been misinformed about Salem “having private investigators following” people in the field. Also, it is safe to say that we have an internal staff with an average tenure of 9 years and growing - many of our staff members have been with us upwards of 10 years or more. Communication is key in a successful working relationship and I would love for you to reach out to us directly in order to successfully work together in the future.

Pros

It's a paycheck until you can find something better. The company is so mismanaged that many people coast for years before anyone notices.

Cons

Please consult the review from Jun 5, 2012. It's the only accurate reflection of the company. All of the positive reviews are obviously written by internal marketing; to believe otherwise is delusional. Note the month in which these ecstatic reviews start and the month in which they finally hired a business/marketing strategist. These several "reviewers" can't think of a single con other than "this place is too perfect!" Give me a break.

Any company that has stood the test of time truly has its outstanding employees to thank for it. That said, leaders of such companies will also share that, over the years, there will be undoubtedly be some employer/employee relationships that do not work out. We’re sorry that this reviewer seems to have had an unsuccessful experience with Salem, and we wish him all the best in his future endeavors. That said, we respectfully ask that all information shared on Glassdoor be factual. To that end, we would like to clarify a few points. Salem implemented an industry-leading Applicant Tracking System in 2012. And on the heels of having our most financially successful years in both 2012 and 2013, Salem purchased and is in the process of implementing a new, state-of-the-art, end-to-end staffing software, organization-wide. We at Salem are extremely proud of the clients and the employees with whom we work. It is because of these people that Salem was awarded Inavero’s Best of Staffing award, for both client and talent service. To refer to our clients as C-list, or to our employees as sycophants, is misleading and disrespectful. Additionally, to impugn our employees’ character by suggesting they did not write their own reviews discredits the individuals who were kind enough to share their thoughts with Glassdoor. Salem understands that everyone is entitled to an opinion, and we encourage the sharing of such opinions. We ask, though, that all information posted be fully accurate. And, most importantly, we ask people to judge for themselves: reach out to us; get to know us; form your own opinions. Simply put, we at Salem love this company – and we think you will, too.

Thank you for your feedback. We certainly are a fast-paced environment, and we’re proud of those friendly employees you reference! We do encourage our employees to live “a life in balance” – but, yes, occasionally, a client’s needs must be our top priority, and we are fully committed to meeting those needs every time they arise. It’s part of what makes this organization great: our willingness to go the extra mile for our clients and for the assignment employees we place with them. Those who do that, and those who exemplify our core values of Integrity, Action, and Excellence, are met with opportunities to advance and to excel and to enjoy long, rewarding careers with us.
