They Only Want the Sale

Good pay and do not have to interact with the school to negotiate/set up interviews. You are contracted to only work the hours you are given.

Cons

The PTO offered is minimal, barely meeting the required standard. The health insurance is poor, and aside from a few wellness and continuing education stipends, there are virtually no other benefits. The recruiters are unreliable—they'll promise one thing, but you often find out later that the district requested something entirely different. While they may apologize, the contract is so vague that you’re still expected to do work you specifically asked to avoid. The recruiters are also incredibly pushy, pressuring you to sign the contract by claiming they have other candidates ready to take the job. It’s clearly a sales tactic to secure their commission and ensure the company profits from your services. Overall, the company feels untrustworthy and unsupportive once they’ve closed the deal. Most of the people I interacted with for help or support were either unresponsive or rude. I would recommend avoiding this company unless you’re truly desperate.

I signed on with SSG out of grad school because they promised to provide a lot of support and guidance, but that didn't turn out to be my experience. At first, I had a clinical supervisor who helped me work through some issues with the school system onboarding process, but after that, I barely heard from her. The next year, I got a new clinical supervisor, and we spoke once. Also, the only PTO I received was 4 sick days each year. Working in a school setting, especially in the final years of the COVID pandemic, 4 days was grossly insufficient. One bout with COVID early in my second year left me with no choice but to take unpaid time off for the rest of the year whenever I was sick or needed to go to a doctor's appointment during the day.
