RUN WHILE YOU CAN.... I wish I had taken these reviews more seriously before I accepted the job!
Pros
The job they pitch to you at the interview sounds like a dream job. Designing spaces, selling the tile, educating customers is what they tell you about. Oh and Unlimited earning potential.... those things are all true.
Cons
You aren't given enough training to become successful. Most of the tile shop stores are understaffed, so your always going to be given more work than is reasonable. High stress environment In addition to designing and selling you have a never ending list of duties. You are expected to move heavy stock, lots and lots of cleaning, operate a forklift, load up customers cars with tile, etc. If you don't make your bi-monthly sales quota you have done all of the aforementioned work for absolutely free. (Subsidy and draw) You don't get paid until the merchandise leaves, and most often it's not readily available. Both of these things make it very hard to control your paychecks and get them consistent.
