      Was GREAT before... shame where they are today!

      Pros

      They HAD the building blocks in the early years and used it to transform what a company could be. Not the case now :(

      Cons

      Strong leaders and investing in their employees were the bedrock of their early success. Holacracy brought about the worst in people and slowly chipped away at the fabric that once made them a great, sought-after, employer. In CLT (and likely other depts as well), many were promoted to positions based on popularity and who you know- talent and aptitude became a VERY distant second. These so-called leaders suck the life of their employees as I've heard so many unfortunate stories and have also seen first-hand their destruction. Shame.

      Pros

      Zappos is a very fun place to work, with a ton of opportunity to get to know your coworkers and spend time together. There is no shortage of on-campus petting zoos, snow cones, and free or subsidized food.

      Cons

      Leadership is infuriating. There is zero consideration given to employees, data, or common sense when serious strategic company decisions are made. All employees were asked to leave, and offered severance to leave, if they were not on board with holacracy. Very strong culture of "My way or the highway". Holacracy was prioritized above employee happiness, customer satisfaction, or performance.

      Pros

      Relaxed not much else positive.

      Cons

      The company itself is a big mess. If you are not kissing someones butt or being bff's you are nobody. It is very much like highschool. If upper employees don't like you they show it. They act rude and snobbish. They treat the little guys like poo, but the little guys are the reason the big guys have jobs.
