- If you are new to the company, you are not prioritized for scheduling. If you are new to ABA and are working towards getting your RBT, employees who are certified and have worked there longer will be prioritized over you. If there are client cancellations and you aren't certified, you won't be paid for the cancelled session.
- Massive caseloads. I was only part-time (13 hours/week), and I had a caseload of 12 clients at one point. Some of the BCBAs had 15+ client caseloads. There were only 3 BCBAs for nearly 60 kids for the entire time I worked there as an RBT.
- Unethical practices. There are no session notes that are submitted to insurance companies on behalf of the RBT. There are "group" sessions where 2-3 clients are assigned to 1 RBT. These "group" sessions are fraudulently billed as "group" even though the entire session is the RBT trying to manage the challenging behaviors of 2-3 kids (who don't interact with one another) all at once. The space of the clinic is very limited, and they prioritize financial gain over safe and effective ABA intervention. Daily, there was often peer-to-peer aggression (resulting in injury) due to the small amount of space.
- Very little supervision and support. This company does not abide by the BACB guidelines for supervision (minimum of 5%). The BCBAs are rarely around, and it is required to request assistance for challenging behaviors via Google Chat, which the BCBAs are never looking at. There were several instances where BCBAs would read the chat and not respond for assistance.
- No crisis and safety training. There were two people that I worked with who suffered traumatic brain injuries from managing a challenging behavior with a client. I had my hair ripped out almost daily. During a staff meeting, everyone collectively requested that we receive crisis and safety training, but we were ignored.
- Favoritism. You could only get requested days off if you were one of the few favorite RBTs of management. Favoritism is shown to certain Treatment Analyst Interns (TAIs) by providing them more supervision and mentorship in comparison to the other TAIs.
