Chaotic leadership, no growth, and toxic culture

Pros

- The coworkers you’re in the trenches and trauma bonding with are the only redeeming part.

Cons

- Leadership is chaotic, reactive, and disconnected. If you bring issues to them or to HR nothing changes. - Turnover is out of control, and people often leave with no job lined up after. In this market, that should speak volumes. - No true growth potential. Leadership will sell you on “if we grow, you grow,” but it’s just a line to string people along. -No clear direction in your role. Job descriptions are vague, and even when you ask for clarification, you won’t get it. - Pay is far below industry standards. They’ll expect you to be a “team player,” but what they really mean is taking on work far beyond what’s acceptable. - The environment is toxic and stressful, with leadership frequently making people feel uncomfortable.

Micromanagement and Mistrust: A Toxic Recipe

Where do I begin? This review will be as honest and transparent as possible, while also adhering to Glassdoor guidelines. Upon interviewing, I noticed some red flags that I initially ignored, thinking they would likely have little impact on my day-to-day work life. I quickly learned the red flags should have been more strongly considered. My hiring process was messy, disorganized, and lacked clear communication. On my first day, I was instructed to be in the office at a specific time to begin my onboarding process (I arrived on time), but I ended up waiting for almost two hours before HR arrived. It took several days to set up my desk, laptop, and monitors. They had weeks before my official start date to get everything set up. I also realize this is not an uncommon practice, I have experienced this at other jobs as well. But still worth noting. After a few weeks on the job, I began receiving calls on my cell phone, and the majority of the calls were to discuss other departments and their subpar work performance. It felt very unprofessional, and my hands were tied as I pride myself on maintaining strong, healthy relationships with all of my counterparts, as well as my superiors. It was an awkward and uncomfortable position to be in. At times, I was asked to be the "middle woman", expected to communicate specific requests and concerns between departments. There was an apparent dislike between them, which made things even more uncomfortable for me. Throughout my time with Thirty Three Threads, the expectations were entirely unreasonable. I firmly believe that my role at Thirty Three Threads was set up to fail. I expressed the need for an assistant and asked for help prioritizing tasks, but received zero support. I was met with eye-rolling, smirking, and an even greater task list. Everything, even the most mundane tasks, is a fire drill. Before this job, I could proudly say I had never missed a deadline. My role at Thirty Three Threads was physically impossible for one person, no matter how strong the work ethic, as I worked several nights every week just to "keep up". At one point, I requested an earlier start time, beginning at 7 am and ending my day at 4 pm, for a total of 8 weeks and only 2 days a week, but I was told this was not possible. I willingly put in 40-50 hours a week and was met with zero flexibility, which also felt like a lack of appreciation. All computers are monitored. The company tracks your activity daily, and there are repercussions if your daily activity does not meet company standards. Although this was not a problem for me, it added another element of stress. My department was heavily micromanaged. Several 2-3 hour-long calls, almost weekly, are not uncommon, during which your work is reviewed in great detail, some of which is mundane and eventually set aside due to other priorities. For anyone reading this review who has worked at Thirty Three Threads or is about to, you will soon be able to pin down the details I am referring to. If you are considering a role here, be cognizant and prepared for what you are walking into. It's going to be hard mentally and physically. This is by far the most toxic working environment I've ever experienced.

We strive to provide a supportive and respectful onboarding process for all new hires, and while we regret that your first day didn’t go as planned due to an unforeseen personal emergency, we worked to get you equipped and up and running as quickly as possible — including providing a loaner device while your permanent equipment, which was delayed due to supplier backorders, arrived. Your role was an important one — designed to help connect departments through data and collaboration — and we were transparent during the hiring process that it would require building new processes from the ground up. This was a new role in a growing company, and we recognize that that can come with unique challenges and growing pains. As a smaller organization, flexibility is something we ask from all employees, and we also do our best to accommodate individual needs. That said, we also rely on clear communication and mutual accountability to make those arrangements work for both the employee and the business. We understand that this role may not have been the right fit, and we wish you all the best in your future endeavors.
