Pros

I have changed positions more than once. Thoughtexchange has worked hard to find the right fit to align with my skills and interests.

Cons

It still feels like a constantly changing start-up so if you're looking for stability and routine, go find a government job.

Leadership is spinning out of control

Pros

Historically they were able to hire good people and my colleagues were some of the most hardworking people I ever met

Cons

In the last year or so, leadership of this company has gone from pretty bad (mostly bc of a first time/inexperienced CEO but his volatility was counterbalanced by others) to awful. So much chaos, lack of clear strategy and prioritization. Original founder has come back from retirement and is now head of product which makes no sense. Also they used to be good at DEI a while back but the head of HR is also now someone who has never done the job and they have lost half the senior leadership team and more or less all the women in that team in the last year or so. Most frustrating thing is that they are making up a bunch of excuses all the time rather than just saying "yeah, this sucks, we are not doing a good enough job and we need to change". At this point, what is needed is a new CEO.

While critical feedback can be hard to hear, we always want to be aware of where we can grow and improve. I’d be glad to connect with you directly if you are open to discussing the feedback you’ve shared. The tech industry has faced significant challenges over the past few years, and our commitment to innovation and growth—along with the change it brings—has not been easy. With changes in leadership, new AI initiatives, and a new product underway we’ve worked hard to support all our employees through the change-management necessary and we know we don’t always get it right. We regret any turnover that adds stress and we never want to lose great people. Our DEI work and policies are very important to us and we are focused on continued development as it is never complete but rather an ongoing commitment from all levels of our organization. Thank you for the candid feedback. We appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts with us. Lea Scherck - VP People

Pros

Thoughtexchange is extremely innovative and is always striving to become the best place to work, but also the best vendor/partner to its customers. The people I work with inspire me to be my best self, both at work at personally. There are always open lines of communication throughout the company. I can reach out to the CEO, President, VP's and even contractors at any time if I have questions or need to discuss something. We also use our own products on a daily basis, which allows us to have fast, informative and hard conversations where everyone's input is welcome. There is a culture of agreement at Thoughtexchange, which means that everyone has the chance to provide input on decisions being made that impact them. This builds capacity for employees to take ownership of their work and work environment. It also flattens the organization. By having everyone involved in decisions, it minimizes the top down nature leadership model that most organizations have. We believe in our product. Everyone in the company believes in the work we do. I personally feel motivated to work harder because the product is helping thousands of people have a voice in conversations about their kids/communities/diversity ect. Work/life balance is nurtured at Thoughtexchange. You can take breaks when you want, if it snows a lot you can go for a morning ski then come in and work when your done, if you need an extra day cause your kids are sick and needs to stay home, no problem. If you are stressed and need to take an afternoon to yourself, go for it. It is fantastic. There are also a number of office locations throughout BC, and more on the way as we expand. You can live in the city where we have a few offices, you can live in a small ski town where we have a few offices. You could work from home if you want, but the office vibe is awesome, so you will want to spend as much time there as you can. Truly a great product and a great place to work.

Cons

Decisions can move a bit slower because of the agreement culture, but really I wouldn't have it any other way.
