Pros

They move fast. However, it's in a way that doesn't make sense. There are constant pivots and things are constantly being dropped. Your skill set will grow tremendously but I'm not sure if it's worth it for the sake of your mental health (ironically).

Cons

Thrive is so toxic in a way that even long after you leave, you are very aware of how that trauma impacts your future work. The story of Thrive is in the shocking amount of turnover that happens on a weekly basis. They seem to have dozens of open roles and are always hiring but truly it's a leaky bucket and the total amount of people more or less stays the same. Executives last on average 6-9 months. Here's the reality and not the utopian-like world that the sellers/business people are being encouraged to write in order to silence the bad reviews: 1) Nepotism is real. The CEO has her favorites and absolutely pushes people forward who are not qualified to do their job and/or get promoted. There are a lot of people with ties to the CEOs family, friends or board members that they want to appease. 2)Micromanagement is alive and well. It's a product of hiring and promoting a lot of people not qualified to do their jobs, not training them and giving them reports. Executive culture has zero trust in anyone as it is so they demand constant updates on everyone, regardless or role and who they report to. 3) Anyone can negotiate a title and salary. There are a lot of Directors and Chiefs but not a lot of associates. Pay attention. 4) They sell a product that has very limited functionality. The app is terrible and no one actually uses it internally. It's something we've all made fun of amongst ourselves. There's a lot of hype over something that for lack of a better phrase, sucks.

Unfortunately much of what you share is simply not accurate. Many members of our executive team have been here since the founding of the company in 2016 including our Chief Platform Officer, Chief Training Officer and Chief Communications Officer while our Chief Content Officer has been here for more than three years. And Thrive continues to grow very fast every week both in terms of employees and the impact we’re having as we bring our products and solutions to more individuals and companies around the world. We're very proud of the mix of longtime Thrivers and new hires who contribute to our culture. And we’re excited to continue to welcome new people, at every level of experience, to join us and further our mission at a time when it’s more important than ever.

Pros

There really aren't any, unless you consider chaos and dysfunction a pro

Cons

For a company that preaches corporate wellness, there is certainly a lot of corporate unwellness happening within Thrive. The company is all about protecting their upper management, which they end up having to do a lot because despite their hefty paychecks, most of the upper management has NO idea what they are doing and aim only to please the CEO, Arianna Huffington. This results in utter chaos and dysfunction on a scale that will surely bring about the downfall of the company within the next few years. As for professional advancement, you can forget about moving up in the company. Instead of training and cultivating junior-level employees, the company chooses to exclusively hire its senior management from outside the company. Despite the tantalizing six-figure checks that initially bring them to their company, most leave within the first few months to a year. The turnover is extraordinarily high and those who stay either do it for the money, or have a personal relationship with Arianna Huffington. As a result, anyone who is NOT management must deal with a constant change or lack in leadership, making Thrive a workplace where a junior-level associate simply has no chance to learn or move up. Furthermore, Thrive Global is a sinking ship in many ways, but especially financially. Anyone that has anything to do with finance at the company has already chosen to jump ship - for good reason. I will not be surprised to see Ms. Huffington's pet project dissolve very soon. For your own sanity and well-being, I strongly suggest you look everywhere else before choosing to work at Thrive.

We’re sorry to learn that you came away with this impression. Given our fast growth (doubling our employee base in the last six months alone), we’re proud of both our hiring from the outside and our many examples of internal advancement. We also pay close attention to the engagement and retention of our team. Turnover happens at all companies and as a fast growing startup, there’s an expected amount of experimentation and flux, especially at the beginning as new structures are being put in place. One of the most exciting parts of joining Thrive at this early stage is the opportunity to grow your career in a truly tangible way -- expanding your role, taking on additional responsibilities, learning new skills and launching new projects that you feel passionate about. We love learning together with our team and are committed to creating a supportive environment in which all employees can reach their full potential and grow both personally and professionally.

Pros

Hires well and the staff is a joy to work with. Compensation is good for the industry. Free lunch, snacks, and massages once a week are fantastic perks.

Cons

I did my due diligence before working at Thrive. I saw the bad reviews and dismissed them as startup churn. I heard rumors about the CEO and attributed them to the judgement of women. Nothing could have prepared me for the level of toxicity in this office or the unprofessional behavior of the CEO herself. There is mistrust and micromanagement from the top, rendering the whip-smart staff to become ineffective and highly reactive to the perceived whims of the CEO. Ask hard questions on your interview with this in mind: There is no strategic plan There is no respect for data There is no room for dissent There is no respect for customers There is no respect for science There is no real product
