Great people and mission, Held back by poor leadership

Pros

Thrive Market is full of kind, smart, and supportive people who genuinely care about the work and the mission. The company’s focus on wellness and work-life balance feels real, and the benefits are genuinely great. There’s also a lot of room to shape your own career if you’re proactive and willing to take initiative.

Cons

The biggest challenge on the marketing team is the CMO’s leadership style. There’s a noticeable lack of trust in the people under her, and direction often shifts suddenly with limited clarity. She frequently steps in to make creative decisions, which can override the team’s expertise and interrupt ongoing work. We have an incredibly talented team and the potential to actually become an iconic, mission-driven brand, but our leadership holds us back. Burnout has become increasingly common because so much of our work feels reactive instead of thoughtfully planned.

Great mission and team, terrible leader

Pros

I’m incredibly passionate about Thrive Market’s mission and had the privilege of working with an amazing team. My team was talented, motivated, and dedicated, and working alongside such driven peers made all the difference.

Cons

The CMO's leadership was a constant challenge. There was a lot of shifting direction with little clarity, and she rarely took responsibility for mistakes. Instead, she would shift the blame onto the team, which created a toxic and frustrating work environment. It’s disappointing because the company has so much potential, but the leadership in marketing really held it back.
