Pros

- fun to style customers - employee discount

Cons

- store+higher up management will sweep complaints under the rug - zero to very little job training - will be expected to do the job of 2 people and won’t get paid for it (was doing asm work when I was only lead sales) - lots of opportunities to move up because people don’t last long at the job - LP trains you to profile customers - shifts will most likely get cut

Low pay

Pros

The best thing about tillys was the people you got to work with. Fun and laid back environment. People don’t often work long hours and there is a good work life balance.

Cons

Significant low pay for starting and those who promote within. Only those who hire in at executive level get high pay. CEO and board don’t value the employees and see them at replaceable. Raises and promotions can be easy to come by if you are on certain teams. However, there is a 3% max increase for annual raise, and 10-15% max for a promotional raise. Some employees don’t even get the 3% annual raise, which isn’t fair since that’s the percentage for cost of living increase. No plan for individual growth and can feel stagnant as the years go by.

Pros

The only pro I can think of is the meager 20% off on clothes and shoes. Also, getting to wear jeans to work is nice.

Cons

Tillys could be a great place for your first job, but I wouldn’t ever recommend going into management. You will only get paid a couple dollars more an hour than entry level associates and the expectations are ridiculous. Also, expect to deal with very immature teenagers (both employees and customers) and never receiving any support from upper management. There is very little room for growth and even if you get promoted, it really isn’t worth it.
