Pros

Decent pay. My peers were extremely talented, fun people to be around. They made the job bearable. Prior to COVID - $25 toward lunch every week, nice office snacks, and flex time off (which most managers let employees take).

Cons

I watched so many great people come into this company bright-eyed and ready to change the world. Watched so many get jaded and leave. Why? Terrible leadership. The CEO is condescending and believes his experience running and growing a top-performing RE company qualify him to insert himself into literally every aspect of certain departments at a SaaS start-up, effectively blocking extremely talented employees in those departments from actually making any meaningful contributions. The Chief Customer Officer is a diva. If you disagree or disappoint her, you're gone. The culture is one of fear, which means backstabbing is the norm and great ideas and passion come here to die.

Pros

I found the pay and benefits to be surprisingly good. There are a lot of hard-working people at TE. The people I worked with were great at thinking on their feet and knew the product inside and out. Most folks were enjoyable to work with and there are many who are truly wonderful people to know. Work remotely. Would still be best for anyone out of state in my opinion, as leadership hasn’t clearly communicated any future plans and the environment progressively felt more pressurized toward being in the office. Team members were always ready and available to help if anyone needed. Great support net.

Cons

The team I worked with did have some toxic tendencies. There was a lot of whispering behind management’s back, management talks of “rumor mills” spinning about specific employees, and gossip following the many quarterly layoffs that happened in my short time with the company. This made for an extremely uncomfortable work environment day to day, and gave some employees long term anxiety over job security, despite being repeatedly assured by management that there was nothing to be worried about. Professional development will appear to be a priority on the surface, but conversations about this always got delayed anywhere from 2-4 weeks past what was originally targeted. When they did happen, my manager mostly walked through what we’d written in evaluations, and I wished this had been more of an open conversation. Skip level meetings regularly get rescheduled multiple times. We were less to believe that these would be more regular. Product often doesn’t quite do what clients need, and sales over-promises on features that don’t exist yet. This causes problems for projects. IMs can only take goals so far - at some point the product silo needs to prioritize features of client interest, rather than features for further financial gain. Company lacks any sort of diversity committee, or any focus on that piece of company culture. At least during my tenure I did not see a single diversity initiative. This can be discouraging for some.

Incredible product market fit, toxic culture

Pros

TE is well recognized in the FinServ vertical and has an incredible product market fit. The deman gen and inbound leads are proof. There is continuous innovation and development on the platform, though historically that has been rushed in some cases. They have hired a number of Executives and Senior leadership that show promise of what TE’s future and work culture could be. (New CRO, CLO and Product for example.) Unlimited PTO and competitive pay Hypothetically, opportunity to be apart of something bigger, have an impact and contribute to the company’s success.

Cons

The sales leadership is toxic. If you have true tech experience to draw on, have sold enterprise before and want be able to have ownership on your process with coaching and support - and not dictatorship, then this isn’t the place for you. There is a leftover leadership culture here that will talk down to you, gaslight, dismiss your ideas, take over versus coach, micromanage, poorly communicate, diminish your contributions and generally make it unbearable to do your job.
