Pros

Free lunch, okay salary, parking

Cons

No 401K, no incentive to stay, benefit wise. No chance in my opinion of sustaining long term. So many possibilities, but no knowledge on how to move from being a small fish in a small pond to attracting big pharma as clients.

Thank you for your feedback. I am not sure when you worked at TraceLink, and maybe some things were not in place when you were here. We have a 401(k) plan with a diverse investment fund lineup that was refreshed in 2017, and just launched a 401(k) match for US employees starting this year. With any growing company, there will always be some growing pains along the way, particularly when you double your workforce in 12 months, and the business is growing so fast. We'll make sure the Leadership Team is aware of your advice and feedback. Thanks again.

Pros

- Work-life balance - Free lunch

Cons

- The code-base is the *worst* code-base I've seen in my 15 years of work in the industry - The people overseeing engineering don't have a clue on how to fix it. Their solution - use Java instead of Scala. Java doesn't write itself! You need good engineers for that. - To give an idea of just horrible the code-base is, simple HTML and CSS changes require modifying anonymous functions in Scala! - The people who have made the mess have been promoted and quite honestly it shows that they have had no experience building web apps. - Engineering management is a disaster. I had interns who were running amok, slinging huge amounts of business critical code with no oversight. Their code was *extremely* poorly formatted, with no test coverage and no one had a clue as to how it happened. Everyone is sitting there looking at each other, clueless!! - Rollouts are a nightmare. Stuff breaks *all* the time. Everything falls on one guy, and it's kinda strange why that happens. It could be individual effort, it could also be wanting to own black-boxes, type of big company culture.
