Pros

Heath Benefits available for part-time work. Casual work environment. Good teamwork and camaraderie. Attracts an eclectic group of people which makes the job interesting.

Cons

Physically very difficult job. Involves standing all day. All crew members are expected to do everything including mopping floors, gathering carts, stocking shelves, breaking down boxes and working in cramped freezers for lengthy amounts of time. Because of space constraints job can often be dangerous with boxes falling on you. Storage area is particularly dangerous. Also must be able to smile constantly and satisfy the most demanding customers.

Pros

Upbeat atmosphere that is fast paced and fun. Really feels like a neighborhood store that customers consider their own (in a good way). I've never seen this type of customer/employee dynamic at other large chain grocery stores-including Whole Foods. Work day is split between working the stockroom/floor (stocking product), and working the cash register. It is refreshing to work for a company that has such a loyal and satisfied customer base.

Cons

Seemingly constant relocation of products around the store is baffling. Regular customers have become use to this, and promptly enlist employees to help locate product for them--at least 20% of my floor time is spent leading customers to these products--this significantly limits the efficiency of any floor worker. Culture is becoming more by the book recently, managers seem to be choosing their words very carefully these days, and HR (corporate) seems to be exerting more influence and punishment then ever.

Pros

Great hours, variety, benefits, great raises and promotions. If you get bored easily this is the job for you, there is always something to be done, and you will never do the same thing all day.

Cons

Work weekends, and either early mornings or late nights. If you want to advance you have the chance, but advancing means working a waterfall schedule and 10 hour days.
