Pros

Allowed generous usage of the company’s unlimited PTO offering. Able and encouraged to partner with multiple departments to streamline processes and provide an impactful patient experience. Incredible work-life balance.

Cons

I figured I would post a candid review before I receive a severance package accompanied with a gag order just incase I am impacted by these rolling layoffs at Truepill. 1. Truepill utilizes Google Suite for the majority of business functions. Due to there being no streamlined process for sharing resources and documents that individuals are working on, multiple projects have been lost amidst the recent layoffs. I would recommend allowing employees time to share their work prior to restricting their system access and laying them off. Lots of time, effort, and energy have been lost in the last few months due to former employees being suddenly locked out of their computers (due to pending layoff) and IT being unable to pull documents from their personal drives due to privacy concerns. ** For a mere fifty additional cents per user/ month Truepill could be utilizing Microsoft Suite (the industry standard).** 2. When I first started working with Truepill, I stated that I could foresee a significant work force adjustment in the near future as many projects and programs were being ran with insignificant to zero returns on investment. It took about 4 months for the first round of layoffs to occur, including many programs that were shut down without notice. For example: Employees had just been hired and had just began onboarding and training with Ahead when Truepill decided to suddenly cease their operations. Between the costs of recruiting, onboarding, and I’m assuming providing severance, this was an eye-widening move that foreshadowed the next 2 rounds of layoffs. 3. Compliance should be at the cornerstone of every move made at Truepill to protect patient’s PHI and to ensure that Truepill’s pharmacy license will not be jeopardized. When I first started, compliance employees were not asked to join us at the table when it came to operational initiatives and structure. This has improved, but there is still no set procedure to make sure that all employee resources are reviewed and signed by compliance prior to go-live. 4. No 401k match, and salaried employees must wait 6 months for an invitation to begin their 401k. I have been with the company for 8 months and still have not received any information on starting my 401k. HR advised they are switching 401k companies a month or two ago, but no further information has been provided. 5. When I asked HR about the employee tuition reimbursement program, they advised that Truepill does not currently offer this. Information about the employee tuition reimbursement program can not only be located in my onboarding paperwork… But, it is also located within HR’s Google documents. I let it go, but this was eye-opening to me that HR does not know the bare minimum about our employee benefits. 6. Speaking of HR, there seems to be a direct correlation between employees filing HR complaints ultimately finding themselves being impacted by the recent rounds of layoffs within the organization. My advise to current employees is to not bother filing an HR complaint unless you want to find yourself unemployed. What a terrible, terrible, corporate culture. Ugh. 7. Utilizes multiple platforms/programs for patient-facing employees to conduct their jobs. Leads to inefficiencies in process and negatively impacts patient experience.

Sacrificing Patient Experience

Pros

Great concept, heavy investment by payors and insurers will likely lead to buy-out, market environment ripe for exploration unfortunately market has limited capacity in a saturated industry. Marketing & PR is their saving grace.

Cons

Organization fails internally: employee retention is dismal, missing customer deadlines, failing to staff appropriately for opportunities and its senior management are incapable of seeing the big picture because they are so transfixed by the sound of their voice because they create an echo-chamber. This is a business that should be built around patients, however patients are the worst causality of this organization. Human interaction is nearly devoid because the organization strives for efficiency through technology. At what cost!!! The patients pay, that is the uncomfortable truth.
