Pros

The people and their adorable pets.

Cons

If you’re looking to join a marketing team for experience in the creative realm, I highly recommend NOT applying to any positions at Trupanion. After four years of waiting for this company to get its structure together, it's at an all-time low and employee morale is even worse. This place is extremely toxic and the upper management never makes decisions that are best for their teams. You will be overworked, under-appreciated, and paid less than you’ll ever deserve. Don’t be fooled by their encouragement of having such a wonderful culture. I wish you could know the company I did four years ago, but now they push out their best and most dedicated employees out of spite and power. Overall, the marketing department has never been treated well and I want to save you from joining a complete train wreck of a company. Also, please don't listen to their fake values and characteristics. I’ve never heard of a company pretending that everyone was doing great and people’s jobs would be safe during a pandemic only to shortly turn around and falsely eliminate roles. There is completely no trust that I can give to this company, not even my pet’s health. It hurts to say these things about a place I once enjoyed working but unfortunately with a little money the ego and priorities of this company have changed for the worse. Also, please be careful reading the many new reviews of people who have worked here for only a year or less. The benefits are great but your sanity is worth so much more!

Pros

Bring your pet to work, onsite events (free food, game night, trivia night, lots of alcohol), no dress code (some wear PJs!), fully paid insurance (as long as you are living by yourself), onsite daycare, 401k (no matching), family enviroment. Some of the best (and worst) managers I've ever had.

Cons

Pet areas not always cleaned, bad dogs get to stay in office because owners are senior level Things are constantly breaking around the office (doors, trashcans, elevators) Middle and upper management can be incredibly hard to deal with (middle management has VERY little support.) Facilities team is not approachable (grumpy rceptionist) Senior leadership has non working bros or hard working chicks. no inbetween. Always telling Call Center agents to just apply and move to a different department later (meaning its always a revolving door and always hiring and always low on staff) Managers are either micromanagers or so hands off that people dont know what to do and get no help when asking VERY low pay- its technically legal due to benefits, but unable to pay rent with health insurance. Executives created new bonus system to increase wage but that is taxed at 40% by law so makes us work harder for even less. no cost of living raise, meaning we make less every year All money goes to policy holders and executives and not to employees Always alchohol around the office, at every event- hard to deal with as a recovering alcoholic. even had jello shots once for no reason! Never gives reason for firings despite the fact all employees could learn and improve their work if they knew. super big focus on culture and behaviour but has executives hover board around and say things just to upset poeple Promotes easy transfering to other departments but only true to a certain extent. IT is punching bag of company and has little support and constantly has people fired despite needing more people. Created new system to decide on what plans to do and it makes little sense and is decided by popularity contest.

Pros

- Fantastic benefits: fully paid health/dental/vision, 2 weeks paid vacay starting Jan 1st, one free pet insurance policy. - 1 child free at the onsite daycare - Bring your dog/cat to work (up to three pets) - The company is growing super fast, so you get to watch that and reap the benefits as added. - Christmas party, monthly events, cheapo branded stuff like mugs/pens/etc - An insurance company that isn't insurance like. We try our best to get people's claims paid instead of the other way around. Even if that includes completing your claim for you (which it nearly always does). - Fancy new building (as long as it gets done- still in construction.) - Onsite workout room (to be ready in Sept 2016)

Cons

- Most management doesn't actually have experience being managers. All newbies. This can be tiring to deal with. Many are micromanagers. They do not treat you with respect unless you come in asking for it. - Pay is VERY low. Benefits may be good, but benefits don't pay the rent. - No maternity leave (uses childcare to keep you quiet about this). - Upper management runs everything and decides everything based on what THEY like not what's good for the company or the 'little people'. - The work is tiring and repetitive. - Not allowed to give any input regarding how our jobs can be done better. - Call center employees are yelled at a LOT. - IT is blamed for a lot of stuff that's not their fault.
