Pros

The only benefit to working at the investment arm of US Bank is that the bank is financially sound which is nice in this volatile economic environment. However, the program itself is in shambles.

Cons

This is the cheapest bank I have ever work for. They do not spend money on resources which bogs down logistics. Procedures that should take a day are stretched out to 2-3 days. It's very frustrating when you work on full comission and have to spend a large % of your time tending to issues from their convoluted and barbaric systems.

Pros

Good work/life balance, nice co-workers, pretty flexible with time off for vacations and appointments, seem to be responsive to interal job applications

Cons

The starting pay for my position is around $29k and pay raises are annual but very small. It would take a 30 year career in the operations area in order to work up to a respectable salary level. There are some smart and ambitious people that want to get out of their jobs and do more challenging work, but it is easy to get stuck because you do not gain any skills or valuable experience. There are also a lot of people who are just content coasting through their careers at US Bank and don't care if they are challenged or have the chance to make better money. They spend the day doing crossword puzzles, surfing wikipedia and playing games online, walking around the office talking with friends, and taking extended lunch "hours". Its not a place for people with goals. For some reason they hire a lot of people with college degrees, but it is totally un-necessary.

Pros

US Bank, in my limited experience, has been very reasonable in accommodating personal needs for days off. My branch manager is a great manager who seeks to teach and develop his employees, seeing them grow within the company. The senior leadership has a clear vision for the company and values everyone being on board for that vision. Their benefits are great as is the training they provide new people to the company.

Cons

The pay for the position of Universal Banker is pretty low. They expect sales goals to be met yet pay the entry level positions relatively little. Also, some of the mid level management seems a little aloof and pushy for their sales goals without taking into account the specific challenges each branch has.
