Pros

Looks great on a resume (prestigous), exposure to a wide variety of policies, great place to figure out possible career paths, close-up view to the U.S. Gov. and how things work, chance to hone research and communication skills, great work life balace (for interns)

Cons

Not tons of opportunites for advancement, sometimes the work seems pointless and is boring, as an intern your basically the servant of your superiors.

Pros

The best reason is to build your network and work with very bright people. Its also a place where you are forced to stay up on current events, you feel in the loop.

Cons

The compensation is the only real drawback because its a really good place to work and there are a lot of smart people on the Hill.
