Pros

Unique opportunity to work with talented, passionate and dedicated individuals. Also, the feeling that you're making a difference and helping the greater good is very rewarding.

Cons

The Pay! Had I started as a Staff Assistant after my internship, I would have been offered somewhere around 25k/ year.

Pros

Got to edit legislation, attend Capitol Hill receptions, draft Small Business of the Week, interact with the best and brightest.

Cons

The worst part of the position was the administrative duties, however, due to it being a federal government job, every now and again you would get a hilarious phone call.

Pros

It's cool being in and around DC every day, and you get a feeling for the culture of the city and the government. Good training so you don't get lost when you're first wandering around the city. Participating in actual government work that you can read about in the news.

Cons

Long hours, and not great pay (though that might depend on the office). Summertime in Washington can be really hot. Work can get tedious.
