Pros

Benefits package, looks good on resume

Cons

The organization is old-school conservative, rife with nepotism, and ruled from a position of paranoia using fear, intimidation, and secrecy. It is not proactive, only reactive. There was little thought put into forward-looking strategy, just knee-jerk protectionism. Senior management, perhaps insecure about their knowledge and competence, routinely asks people to oversee tasks for which they are not qualified. This ensures that they a) perform poorly and b) don't have the knowledge or insight to question the bad judgment of senior management. Further, the department is structured so that there's little opportunity for people to advance, and moving up closer to senior management is no reward.

Pros

They are generous with time off.

Cons

The supervisor put in place over my program was ineffective, harassed me, drove around looking for my car in parking lots, and the Human Resources department of course backed the administration when I complained of of discrimination and harassment. The supervisor admitted to creating new rules simply for me, no one else, and felt it was ok to yell. Absolutely abhorrent. At one point the supervisor thought that I had become suicidal due to the ongoing harassment, so she decided to mock me in front of coworkers.

Pros

Competitive pay; good benefits, especially retirement

Cons

No respect for loyalty. As soon as someone has been there a few years and is making a decent salary, they get laid off and replaced with someone half their age that can be paid half their salary. Turnover in management is very high as a result.
