No Country for Old Men

Pros

Great benefits, and depending of what you do this company can be great or can be hell. There are people walking around from meeting to meeting, and there are people spending 10 hours call after call.

Cons

Must be 28-45 years old to get promoted. USAA does not have interest in promoting people over 45 years old not matter how experience is the person. It can be micromanaged. One must be a member of "the club" to be promoted or participate in special projects.

Call Center USAA

Pros

You get tickets at a discounted rate to Orlando Studios, check is alright(for the amount of work you do, you'll be paid better at MetLife). Getting trinkets every now and again, and there's a daycare. That's interesting.

Cons

Micromanagement! I completely understand having to be held accountable for your actions or having standards, but to nick-pick at calls to look for something wrong is just ridiculous. ALL OF THE TIME.. you never do a great job. Something wrong will be found. Always have to sell items, even to members who dont want or need it. You can have a great call, rapport, take care of their requests, EVERYTHING, but if you dont sell, you'll get bad marks. So I just offer stuff and say that I did it. No movement to move to other departments that don't require selling-like admin/clerical work. Schedules, last schedule bid came out, if you worked on the weekends, no options offered. Complete crud. High turnaround. 5 out of the 11 employees I started with have fled, and in June it'll be a full year.

Pros

Benefits package (health, dental, retirement)

Cons

You are expected to meet ridiculous demands. There are certain goals and criteria you are expected to meet, on top of taking hundreds of calls and complying with dozens of technical and compliance aspects on every single call. It is near impossible to just stay afloat. Management is all over your case when you are struggling, and constantly suspicious when you are doing well. Working there is like being in prison.
