Pros

A great place to work for Mid Level to Senior level who had solid experience with business requirements. Benefits are top notch and they are rather relaxed on taking PTO and vacation. You can take advantage of your benefits at a moments notice without to much lay over time. Their benefits package is the best I have ever seen.

Cons

As for the Agency team I work with, it leaves something to be desired. When they hired me they told me that they needed a junior java developer to groom and train. However, that is not what I faced starting from my first day. My first day was very surreal to say the least. My manager was supposed to meet me to authorize and integrate me into their systems. She was not there to give the authorizations and I had to wait 3 days just to log in. There is absolutely no orientation. You are expected to hit the ground running and ask very few questions. It took me a month to get authorization for the tools that I needed to complete my day to day tasks. Even now, I have waited weeks to get authorized for access to monitor end to end testing and I still don't have access. I am faced with bloated agile stories on a daily basis. If you have any questions about them they will tell you to figure it out and keep your mouth shut. They are constantly violating Scrum protocols and inflating Acceptance Criteria without reflecting it in the story points. What's more, the scrum master is screaming and they will out you as being the cause of the problem. They tell you they will train you but the only they will do is shove a story in your face and expect you to close with no help what so ever. They will leave in the lurch and expect you to just suck it up and take it. Clearly, the expect their developers to suffer in silence. I would not recommend working for the agency team without at least 5 - 6 years experience and that is only if they like you. The work culture is fairly deplorable at best.

Pros

-They pay for and put you through a rigorous training program to prepare you for the role. You can get promoted very easily the first couple years. They have excellent benefits including health, paid time off, maternity and paternity leave etc.

Cons

The work environment is miserable. Micromanagement is an understatement. You will get weekly coaching with your manager to discuss why you are not meeting the unreachable goals. As an insurance agent, once you reach senior it becomes increasingly difficult to progress in the company and opportunities become scarce. If you want management you need to have a military background or go above and beyond off the clock by networking and participating in micro groups created by the company. Your every move will be tracked. It is a very high stress environment where many people end up utilizing FMLA for depression and anxiety due to the job and pressure.

Pros

Stable, good people, big name to put on resume

Cons

Draining work. They give you a good amount of time off but it's IMPOSSIBLE to take any time off, unless you want to call in sick. Metrics so they constantly look over your shoulder. Never any time to breathe. ALWAYS busy. Pay isn't great. One of the worst turn-over rates I've experienced. Management needs work. Will constantly talk about how it's for the member's benefit, but it's really just to sell more products. Look after the member but not for their employees. Pay is not good for what you put up with.
