Pros

USAA has a great mission statement and core values and I was proud to live them all. They have high standards for all employees and have great resources that will help you develop the skills for success. As a military vet, whose father retired from the Air Force and whose and brother and son are currently serving, I LOVE how this company takes care for our service men and women. The amazing benefits include a 401K program, matching up to 8% towards retirement, tuition assistance and a pretty nice annual bonus. The pay is not too bad either. The amazing management is supportive and encourages advancement within the company

Cons

The hours that member service representatives work can sometimes be long and exhausting. I worked 4 10 hour days and stayed on the phones about 90-95% of that time. Lunches were only 35 minutes long and trackers kept track of every other minute of your day. Also, I don't deal with rude, nasty people so I had terrible anxiety when I had to take a call from a disgruntled member.

Pros

Regular pay. Decent benefits. Small but real chance to work from home, but limited mostly to trailing military spouses.

Cons

Reactionary management culture has no vision except hitting current month numbers. Does not recognize employee potential, even military experience. Management threatens consequences if employees don't rank company highly in surveys. Approach to quality is to blame individual contributors rather than prevent errors. Kool-aid culture demands saying everything is perfect and channels constructive, innovative ideas away to die. Top-heavy management hierarchy.

Pros

Great pay, great mission, great work, great benefits. Work-life balance is probably the best perk of all. Besides getting the rare late night or Saturday morning, I range about 40-47 hours a week.

Cons

San Antonio is a great place but not my cup of tea. I'll be more excited when WFH gets bigger and bigger.
