Pros

Benefits, pay, not physically hard. You are gold if you are prior military, if you're not better be ready to network, aka, suck up more than you every imagined.

Cons

On the phone every day and you are monitored every minute of every day. You get yelled at at minimum once a day by members. You're expected to make transfers and close policies. You become too afraid to leave because of the benefits you lose that you end up being mentally drained as so many have been. The doctor I was recommended to internally says that USAA is meant to confine it's employees in the building which is why we have so many amenities. They want to keep a tight leash on us.

Pros

Having worked at USAA opened doors for me with other companies. Bonuses were excellent.

Cons

After 10 years with the company I still didn't have enough seniority to get time off to be with my family at Christmas. Absolutely bungled my maternity leave. Was forced to solicit more lines of business from people who couldn't even pay their bills in the first place. Managers only care about you keeping on your schedule - god forbid you get stuck on a call past your allocated break time because you'll get questioned about it - but even worse if you don't solicit a product and you're going to get to your break on time. There's no pleasing them.

Pros

Great benefits, awesome mission and culture. Lots of resources available to employees. Embraces a lot of military values and culture.

Cons

Too rigid and structured. Lots of realignments in title only. Some members of management are incompetent. Everyone walks around on eggshells and is scared of big brother constantly lurking over their shoulder. Misleading about future compensation and performance related merit increases.
