Pros

If you have the capital to invest thousands of dollars into leads, you may be successful. You have to buy your leads and they don’t tell you that in the interview. The people are cool and you can have fun in the office

Cons

There is no salary or hourly pay, you’re literally in the office from 8-8 every day, a lot of times later. The insurance product you make commission on is really not good, and a lot of times agents are not honest with clients about if they qualify for a government subsidy, leaving people paying more for insurance that doesn’t cover their conditions. It’s really sad and I never felt good about selling it. Not only that, you’re making like 2-300 cold calls a day and may or may not even be getting a sale. I had to take out personal loans to be able to pay my bills. It’s definitely a pyramid scheme, and it really was the lowest point in my life. I don’t want to see anyone else go through that. Of course you hear the success stories where some people get filthy rich, but that is so rare and those people have invested so much. Oh also if someone cancels their policy, you have to pay back the commission you got from it.

Pros

Make your own schedule/ hours.

Cons

When you are getting recruited, they don't tell you anything about the fees or about how many times the leads have been called. Best leads are given to an elite few while new people have to make 150 calls per day to get maybe 2 people on the phone who hang up on you by the time you call them because they have been called 20 times. Very high turnover. Unrealistic salary expectations-they tell you how much money the successful people make but don't tell you it takes 6-12 months to build a book of business, or that if you make commission it can get backed out of your future paychecks if the clients cancel. The product coverage is not that great either so there are a lot of unhappy clients calling you to complain. Stay away, stay far away.
