Pros

The pros for becoming a flight attendant would still be flexibility regarding one's schedule and hours worked, and a great pass travel package.

Cons

The perks are quickly disappearing. Layovers are becoming shorter, and in airport hotels rather than nice downtown locations. The unions are weak, if not corrupt. Most f/a's have stopped even trying to use travel privileges, as the flights are always full. Your fellow employees can be wonderful, but that is the exception. There is much bitterness, laziness, sometimes utter hostility from the gate agents, management, and especially passengers. Be prepared to be utterly unappreciated and to have to fight for respect.

Pros

Benefits for the whole family, including flights, medical, dental, vision, 401k

Cons

The point system for absent, tardy, and using your sick time. Yes even when you are sick and bring proof like a doctors statement. You still will get a point, I was given a point when I had to go give birth to my child. It's hard to transfer into another station or job position mainly because people won't retire.

Pros

Flight benefits, pretty good health insurance

Cons

United is the opposite of meritocracy - it's the reason why it's the most unionized airline because management will always favor friends and family. Management in pilot scheduling is run by high school graduates that simply ingratiated themselves to a director with below-average intelligence to get promoted. The company markets itself as a progressive airline but behind the scenes is still run chiefly by boomers and their mentality to work. I had a colleague who was late to work and was in a car accident and they reprimanded him. You must look elsewhere if you're looking for flexibility, good pay, and time off. Of course, disregard if you're going to be working in corporate but realize they only give you 2 weeks vacation.
