Pros

United Rentals wants 50% female leadership according to HR, and the benefits package is great.

Cons

The males at most of the branches will prevent females from remaining at United Rentals through doing everything possible to ensure they are under-trained, unsupported, not followed, and undermine them. Men frequently say "I DO NOT WANT A WOMAN TELLING ME WHAT TO DO" at locations where a female is in leadership, and they have and will do everything possible to sabotage the female. Upper management won't assist female leaders either and they live up to punishing females that report harassment to them. The men however are not reprimanded because all of this is "documentation of harassment". When United Rentals the corporation gets serious about 50% female leadership they will have to develop a REAL learning program that addresses every sort of discrimination and how it relates to Federal laws that apply to each employee, and also apply "warnings" and "write-ups" for those employees that cross the line. Punishing females because they report that their male co-workers are harassing them or jeopardizing their place at United Rentals is wrong. I was punished for telling co-workers to stop harassing me. Women in HR are not supportive in issues of harassment which demonstrates that they are not supportive of assisting women in leadership. White-washing issues is the same thing as telling someone with an injury that it didn't happen at all and just walking past without assisting. HR shouldn't be getting Gold Stars for promoting the condoning of hardships that United Rentals women go through that are caused by men that want to rid United Rentals of female employees.

United Rentals does not condone or support discrimination against, or harassment of, its female employees or any of its employees or retaliation against its employees who make good faith reports of gender or other illegal harassment or discrimination. As for training, while United Rentals expects employees for certain positions to possess applicable skill sets upon being hired, it does provide employees with necessary training and provides regular training relating to its employment policies, including its policies against gender harassment and discrimination and retaliation. Additionally, United Rentals investigates employee claims of violations of its discrimination, harassment and retaliation policies. United Rentals does not agree with this review and is committed to providing, and does provide, equal employment opportunities.

Pros

Decent pay and quarterly bonuses depending on branches profit. No degree required 40 hour weeks No weekends Largest rental company in the industry

Cons

Constant racist, sexual and other inappropriate remarks in office about customers and employees. The office was extremely uunprofessional. Disconnect from management. No clear direction Inside sales role but the job does not involve sales. Daily duties were more like a secretary. Take orders on phone, clean out trash, make coffee and transfer calls. Manager is unapproachable New hire trainings didn’t happen for 3 months and didn’t apply to my office because each office makes exceptions on whichever rules they please Overall I would not recommend this job. I have never worked in a office so unprofessional. Coming from a customer service and sales background I am surprised how such a large business can provide such poor customer service. Employees are rude to customers across the board.
