Pros

Best reasons to work at the United Way is that you know you are helping someone in need. Time off is fair and there is a belief hat family is first. Health benefits are good but the retirement package is great!

Cons

Pay is not on scale with other organizations unless you are at the top. You can't work remotely and promotions are not from within the organization. A lot of contractors are hired to do work that the employees might enjoy but aren't privy to. No incentive or real sense of team exists.

Pros

Most employees are nice people, want to do a good job. Meet our mission in some areas, funding and providing services to people in the community.

Cons

Senior management not up to the job. Organization has not updated itself to reflect the changes in the market and economy that are affecting us. Problems with fundraising and resource development, some are due to the down economy but it seems like other nonprofits are doing well or expanding when we're not.
