Pros

Most employees are very easy to get along with, especially on nights. You can self-schedule. Insurance benefits are nice.

Cons

Management is extremely hostile which creates a negative and toxic work environment. Managers play favorites which they like to claim it isn't true, but it definitely showed to me and to many of my previous colleagues. They don't care about you, your health, or the patients safety/health. Have fun taking 7-8 patients all over the entire floor. Most staff quit or got fired when they raised concerns. Almost half, if not more than half, of the nurses there are travel contracts because the staff retention is terrible. Teamwork is hard to achieve with the revolving door of nurses. They do not promote educational growth, increasing your skills, and do not pay for any certifications unless you get "clearance" from management. Management offers no help to nightshifters, never comes in earlier than 6am (that's rare), and only goes of off hear-say to make their opinions/decisions.

Pros

If you work on campus, UPH St Luke's is a great organization. The culture, values and senior leadership team are very good. They host many events for employees throughout the year.

Cons

If you work off-site, much is left to the discretion of the facility manager. This can make or break your work environment. I experienced inconsistent application of policies, compliance issues that were ignored or unresolved, and pushback when I attempted to institute change as well as a hostile manager who discriminated against employees with FMLA.
