Micromanaging, threaten employees with action plans, unrealistic expectations, narcissist manager and the list goes on. There are better companies out there with better benefits.

My biggest issue with Keokuk hospital is that they are stuck in the dark ages when it comes to change. This is a top level management problem. They want all the praise but none of the accountability or blame. The reason why this hospital is STILL failing is because of our leaders. It's a shame really because of all the underappreciated workers that love their job and want to stay. My particular manager refuses to acknowledge easy, no-cost suggestions to enhance workflow and put in some standardized, efficient, procedures that would make our over-loaded, understaffed job, flow more seamlessly. I don't appreciate being set up to fail! Deaf ears creates resentment and poor performance. Common sense!!!! There is a simple reason why turn over is so high. Its not just the low pay and expensive health insurance. It's overall treatment, creating low morale. If you don't care... why should we?

Many supervisors & managers are promoted based on their friendship with leaders. Of those many are not fit for the job & manage horribly. HR is no help when dealing with bad management & always side with them rather than the employee. The pay is horribly low in my field compared to other companies.

12-hour shifts can be difficult at times

I worked there just for a couple months, the management is so unfair in how they handle disputes, i worked at rehab floor and whatever the nurses and PCTs advised me it was ok to do turned out to be used against me, I could overhear them all talk about me and others to a point where a patient brought it my attention that they don't appreciate how they talk about minorities loudly whereby patients can pick up the conversation. From your name being taken off the schedule without explanation and when you seek clarity the manager says they don't know who did, from everybody knowing you have been fired except you and coming to work to a hostile environment where you know you are not welcomed without any explanation, if they could handle everyone equally and fairly and not allow others to do what they while others are being bullied, it would be a very fair and understanding place to work.

From CEO down, managers have no interest or incentive to actually follow our high-minded principles. Have seen many good people cast aside or leave because the hypocrisy became too much.

Certain managers do not follow the rules. Their HR department is terrible when you have an issue with the manager and they do not support the employee.

Upper management and administration is out of touch with the reality of bedside healthcare leaving some units understaffed frequently. FOCUS values are not consistently enforced for all, especially in the case of physicians who are allowed to verbally abuse nurses without repercussion. Lower pay than the competition across the river, not as nice of a facility either.
