Pros

Non-profit status allows focus to be on what matters most: quality patient care. Great teaching hospital and a great place to start as a new graduate nurse. Nurse-nurse and nurse-physician relationships are very strong.

Cons

Budget cuts are causing general anxiety throughout the organization. I'm sure this is commonplace in every healthcare organization.

Super generous PTO from the very beginning. Outstanding insurance.

Their pay is below city/national standards for a positions here. A position here, will get paid less than an identical position in another hospital.

in the beginning, it seems like the company may care about you. If you want to just "put in your time to collect a paycheck" then this could be the place for you

Cons

the longer you work there the less you find the professional support you need. Transferring out of what you think may have become an apathetic department does not necessarily result in hospital change of attitude.
