Pros

Generous PTO if you can use it. Good benefits. Depending on team, manageable workload (but other reviewers here have wildly differing experiences). Trying to be more enlightened and less WASPy.

Cons

Employees are being made to go back to work. Why? Two days in office, three days at home, and access card records are being checked (as if there's nothing better to do). Why try to keep forcing this outdated thinking on staff? Being in office doesn't make you more productive necessarily. In CHA Unum has two sometimes underoccupied office buildings. Not their Employees' problem.

Pros

The PTO is generous (4 wks/yr for new hires) Cheap disability, voluntary, and life benefits

Cons

Salaries are below the national average Expensive health benefits Frequent lay-offs Management Style has not joined the 21st century Do not hire full-time remote (some people were grandfathered in to avoid lawsuits, but unless you are in the call center, you cannot work full-remote)

Pros

Good pay, good benefits, job security

Cons

Low quality of life. I've met so many former Unum employees who left bc of the high stress, being overworked. This place will suck the life out of you and take over your entire life. There's also very little internal support. I felt like my coworkers were out to get me and everything is blamed on the Benefits Specialist even though other departments constantly drop the ball. Even when I did my job correctly something would go wrong (system/tech issues) to undo my work. Just such a frustrating place to work.
