Pros

Free snacks and drinks. Downtown Phoenix location.

Cons

Working at Upgrade was a terrible experience and one of my biggest regrets in life. So far all of the negative reviews have been accurate. This company is very disorganized and unprofessional. I’m too embarrassed to tell people that I once worked here. They hire inexperienced people to management positions. Anytime a new policy is implemented and it fails, you continue to hear the same excuses like “startup culture” and “scaling problems”. No one in leadership holds themselves accountable and it’s sad. The Supervisors are inexperienced and make up answers if they do not know the answer to a questions. The Supervisors are inexperienced and part of the problem as well. This a high volume call center and part of your job performance depends on how long you sit in your seat, so yes it’s that kind of job. Nobody knows what they are doing or how to navigate through things. This company will continue to have a high turnover rate.

As with any scaling company, growing pains are an inevitable part of the process. Our leadership team is comprised of first-time managers and those who have seasoned experience. Manager development is an important part of our organization and we have partnered with an external leadership consultant providing ongoing learning and coaching in addition to creating internal training to support these efforts. We realize we have more work to do in this area and we will continue to support the ongoing development of our leaders. Thank you for taking the time to share your specific feedback with us as it will help us continue to improve in this area.

Pros

No pros at all for this job

Cons

Work here if you want covid. They have no standards and dont care for the health of the employees. Many people got sick from covid but because they are so money hungry nothing was done- no quarantine required, no temperature checks, no shutting down the office, nothing If you want covid and an employer who doesnt care about your health work here And on top of that you only get a 30 minute lunch even if you work 10-12 hours

As an essential business operating amidst a pandemic, we do our best to balance the wellbeing of our team members, our customers, and our business. For example, we continue to incentivize and support folks to follow CDC guidance which includes getting vaccinated and wearing masks. Our COVID-19 response team works tirelessly to ensure our protocols and responses to active cases are followed with contact tracing and quarantining. We welcome the opportunity to hear how we can improve our efforts, please email us at wecare@upgrade.com.

Pros

- Free office snacks - Nice office aesthetic - Pay is decent

Cons

- Bad management - Poor work/life balance - Low employment engagement - 60-day probation before being able to use sick time during a PANDEMIC - Work in office with little option to WFM unless you have a disability So much I could say... to begin with, the company does not have any values they adhere to. If you're a mission-driven person, this is not the place for you. They claim to want to "help customers lower their debt to help them reach their financial goals and live a better life" but you don't actually feel any of this and end up just processing day-to-day admin tasks. They offer basic credit score information on their website but that's it. There are very few company engagement activities and All Hands meetings end up disengaging you rather than exciting you about the company. Due to this, employees are disengaged and turnover is high. Not everyone who is a manager in Loan Servicing is competent to lead teams. They claim to have a good work/life balance but this is not the case. Due to the company not wanting to appropriately staff, certain teams end up working mandatory OT on the weekends. Unless you have a background in finance, live in SF or legitimately enjoy this sector–Upgrade will only be another job to pay the bills.

As with any scaling company, growing pains are an inevitable part of the process. Sometimes business can ebb and flow and it seems we could improve our communication in this area. We appreciate the feedback to better understand how we can communicate better during these transitional periods.
