Pros

Good working environment in Lincoln. Technical middle-management.

Cons

We lost significant benefits and bonuses in the acquisition and in return we mostly have buzzwords and new layers of management...plus the hollow promise of Stock Options. The review that mentioned the lack of reinvestment in product is spot on. Human resources are the most valuable asset of any software company, but not when Finance runs the show. Investors are a way for a company to raise capital to grow their business. Upland raised capital to create a financial asset. We got acquired, we got an IPO, but we never saw the additional investment in product. Now their mission is to grow the stock price, while investing as little as possible in product because that is what venture capitalist do. Employee benefits are just another expense that takes away from the investor's bottom line. This is what happens when the vampire squids of investment capital run a software company. The absence of a passionate founder in each of the products means no checks and balances to the MBA's and a soul-less product. Venture capitalist do not create wealth, employees with passion, drive and vision do. The capitalist just find ways to monetize the passion. If you remove passion from the equation, you are left with soul-less vampire squids who call themselves entrepreneurs.

Pros

Downtown Austin location with parking. Nice view.

Cons

If you are female, you will never excel here. Not a single woman has been promoted in the entire time I have been here but the men get promoted all the time. 2014 saw no bonuses & no cost of living raises--UNLESS you are in the C-Class which is, of course, all men. This place is sexism in action like I have never seen. Shocking and disappointing! Especially when there is a female HR in charge.

Pros

Work culture is very positive. Dress code was recently relaxed to allow jeans at work (tougher dress codes are entirely useless). Work/Life balance is very good. I've never had trouble getting time off or being bothered outside of work hours. Everyone seems to genuinely want to do well in their work, but knows when to slow down and take some time for social outings and team building. Health/Dental/Vison coverage is good. The product is constantly being made better as we go after bigger customers, so the work is consistently interesting and rewarding. Quarterly bonuses are good.

Cons

My only con is salary, and I am not the only one here with that feeling. There are good quarterly bonuses, but it isn't enough to cover being the far low-end of the salary spectrum for the area.
