Pros
As an online adjunct instructor you have a fair amount of flexibility and autonomy in designing your curriculum and carrying out best practices (methods for giving feedback, for example). You're free to use other instructors' ideas but also free to develop your own content, provided it aligns with the course objectives. This approach allowed me to create my own interactive syllabus, which has been helpful for my own professional development.
Cons
As with probably most adjunct roles, you're not paid very much. And unfortunately there are times when you feel like a number, even when you think you have built relationships with the supervising staff.
