Pros

Corporate isn't actually the problem in this case (except in that they don't monitor/crack down on what goes on in the hospitals enough).

Cons

Managers and staff aren't monitored by corporate very much, so they can run amok. I've worked at several different VCA hospitals (and have friends who have worked at those with me and/or at other VCA hospitals who have the same experience), and each time it's the same. Drama-prone, lazy techs (who are lazy to the point of endangering patients) are allowed to continue by managers that are friends with them outside of work. The managers are the worst of them all (cause the most drama, overwork/underappreciate the good techs, don't discipline or get rid of the bad techs), but corporate doesn't pay attention. I watched tech after tech get bullied or burned out to the point of leaving, and each time I had to leave too. Each time, I hoped the drama would be less, the patient care would be better, the appreciation would be better... but no. The pay varies hugely (essentially, you can get paid very well within this company if you happen to be BFF's/drinking buddies with your manager outside of work, or you can be the one pulling all the weight and find out later you're making half what some of the lazy techs make). It's a shame. This company could be great. If you get a corporate job, you'll probably enjoy it. Otherwise, don't bother.

Pros

Love all my coworkers, we all work together to manage. I love working with animals and being able to learn from the techs and doctors.

Cons

Your certainly not paid for the job you do. My one position does the job of 5 people and it’s exhausting. Clients are very mean 70% of the time. Management doesn’t give great raises at all. Trying to move up in the company is nearly impossible.
