Pros

Good benefits especially the retirement plan and the medical insurance plan, Decent place to start if you don't have experience (both clinical and non clinical positions). Learn and leave is a common philosophy between the staff in the main hospital.

Cons

Half of the hospital has bad management. Many new managers are appointed for political reasons and they are not very competent in organizing their staff and work. A lot of gossip and drama. Central supply is in need of being reorganized and they are working on that for more than 4 years now with little success. Many problems are coming from new IT system including the new EMR. Poor training system and very short time to learn. In many units many new employees are left to self training and this can cause serious problems. A lot of people between the old and experience staff is leaving because of the recent changes in management and software , and most of them leave suddenly with no time to pass the knowledge to the replacement staff. TERRIBLE HR. The worse I have seen in my 20 years of work experience. They don't help employees as well as the managers. I suggest to check everything on your time card before it passes to the approval, and check your pay stab every time. Better to prevent problems before they happen, it take months before HR helps you (after many emails and many ignored telephone calls). The hospital is big and in many units there are too may cooks cooking the same soup resulting in a terrible salty soup. Very bad lack of communication and no real and clear guidelines. Hard to find the protocols you are looking for int the crowded and chaotic Internal INTRANET. Just taking a look on their intranet gives the idea of the confusion of the organization... even the telephone directory is bad with most of the number wrong and ancient information never updated. Be careful when you look for forms to print in their system because the new forms are together with forms dated 5 years ago. Half of your time will be used to find the person who can help to understand the complicated chain in command. Good luck.
