Pros

401k match, flexibility, GREAT insurance is utilizing the health systems services.

Cons

PTO accrual system is a pro and con. PTO must be used for everything (holidays, vacations, sick time, etc). You accrue based on tenure, but the first 5 years are 8 hours per pay period. Advancement opportunities weren't readily available, which is why I left. I felt as though there was no hope in growing. Pay isn't all that great. I was promised one figure verbally, but when it came down to it they were about $4k shy of that promise. Annual increases were a joke.

Pros

Amazing benefits! After one year of working in a benefited position (full or part-time) the health system will pay for your continuing education. Since this is a major teaching hospital within the commonwealth, the opportunity for growth and to try different areas is ever-expanding.

Cons

The base pay is not very high compared to other hospitals in the community. However, the benefits packages balance out the pay grade.
